best move Hi.

I'm trying to find the best opjening move.. can anyoone give advice? I tend to open with e4 but I'm lookking for the move that forces a win for a whitee.. or a draw if the game is a draw. What is the move?
mattafort 39 ( +1 | -1 )
no such move No such move!
If there was, CHESS would be uninteresting game.

My rank of white's opening moves:
A: e4 - d4
B: c4 - f4 - Nf3
C: Nc3 - g3 - b3 - b4

Group A is a tiny, tiny bit stronger than Group B
Group B is a tiny bit stronger than Group C

The rest is up to what black plays, and your answer to that, and ....

pointless forum topic No single move could win for either side.
invincible1 34 ( +1 | -1 )
olympio You know what, 1.e4 leads to mate after 246 moves.
1.d4 takes about 260 moves. While most other moves lead to a win for black, 1.c4 leads to mate black in 168 moves. However, I hope you will excuse me from providing all this massive analysis on this forum. IT runs into thousands of pages....

thank you invincible :) nice to see someone knew i was joking
olympio 18 ( +1 | -1 )
but mattafort's answer was nice too..

verticalchess.. you just may be right.. but it's hard to say.. maybe chess is a win for white.. maybe it's a draw.. maybe there is a move that wins for white..

re- I find that the best move is to sit down quietly at the chessboard , whistle -(The Bridge On The River Kwai) is my favorite one , then very very quietly extend your arm forward grasp the nearest little pawn and pick it up , then suddenly slam it down on a convenient square , while all the time giving a awesome menacing glare at your opponent !! Works for me every time . Why i even been known to draw using this very method ! yours bluebabygirl .

BBG remind me never to play you!
You have me shaking in my boots!
bluebabygirl 10 ( +1 | -1 )
to raimon you are my friend , so i would not do all that . well at least i would leave off the whistling!! yours bluebabygirl

Strongest Move is D4. Second best move is E4. Don't talk to Kramnik who thinks Nf3 is best. Best move actually is the last move that wins!
kremator 1 ( +1 | -1 )
No no no you're all wrong C4 is the best!!!
bluebabygirl 7 ( +1 | -1 )
re to any best move any of you guys ever made was in choosing CHESS !!!!! Me 2
mattafort 6 ( +1 | -1 )

raimon 3 ( +1 | -1 )
Well I agree with Kramnik
kremator 3 ( +1 | -1 )

thinking in the box Re bluebabygirl.
I have found if you obtain a large cardboard box (preferably one that housed a tv) and cut one hole on the right side, then a tiny slit in the front, you can go to any tournament, sit inside the box, observe the board through the slit, extend your hand out at the proper time and make your move. This generally instills fear in your opponent, and it is perfectly legal. Naturally, if you're left handed, you should cut a hole on the other side.
I hope this helps.
kremator 32 ( +1 | -1 )
BOX! Are you serious about that. I mean sitting in a box to make your moves. How can that be legal!!! Thats just not right and it's really not creepy but super wierd. Imagine if you won an award after playing through that box and then they shoot the ceremony to show it on local TV and people see you in that ridiculous box!!!
bluebabygirl 22 ( +1 | -1 )
re- to buddy2 i do not need a box to cover my face . im quite pretty ,,,thank you for the suggestion and I hope the box worked well for you !! by the way I am lefthanded . also i try to instill respect not fear . other posting was a joke as im sure you knew . yours bluebabygirl

I think That the box idea is to give the impression that you are 'The Turk' No.2?
bluebabygirl 23 ( +1 | -1 )
to any funny ,, but I have played people in person that I wished were in a box , well at least their head anyway lol . And i have played and lost so badly that often I wished that I was in a box lol .yours bluebabygirl
kremator 6 ( +1 | -1 )
back to the topic We all know very well that c4 is the best move of all.
bluebabygirl 12 ( +1 | -1 )
any best move is always the one you make just before you say CHECKMATE!! yours bluebabygirl - im back on topic kremator
kremator 9 ( +1 | -1 )
No The best move is the move that has two exclamation marks after it. Example : 22. ... Qxf1!!

g3 i've started playing g3 and building a house..

it looks really pretty :)
bluebabygirl 12 ( +1 | -1 )
to olympio g3 yes cool how many rooms in your new house ??????????????????????????Any G rooms ?? Which is really pretty the game or the house??? yours bbg
olympio 28 ( +1 | -1 )
i guess both.. just arrange the pieces g3 Nf3 Bg2 O-O then advance a d or e pawn.. then tell me if that looks pretty?

then play some games that way.. and tel me the defensive structure doesn't lend itself to very nice long and positional games.. (the best looking imo)

1. f3! or 1. Na3! according to the chessmaster 9000 database, the only opening moves with 100% win for white is f3 and Na3
kremator 8 ( +1 | -1 )
Yes They were either played by grandmasters against amateurs or by two amateurs.
