Forum Fun-Game #1 I would like to try a out a new Forum concept here, similar to a consultation game. RULES; to be as follows:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
#######################################################
[*Foremost is to enjoy the game(s). So RULES here are guidelines we try to follow. But no penalty or negativity about any infraction or misunderstanding of them. In that case, we'll simply clarify and continue the game.]
^^
*Please DO have a board kept set-up to follow the game, if you wish to play. Thus, No "blindfold" moves, Please!
^^
*Anyone with Forum posting privleges can join at any time, but can only make moves for one side or the other; therefore must stick with the color that their first accepted move is.
^^
*When more than one player posts for the same move number, then the first legal move posted will be the accepted move in the game.
^^
*A player can post a move for his side at any point, but cannot make two consecutive moves. Some other player must make a move before the last player to post an accepted move can post another one. (At this time, Conditional Moves will not be made; but might be tried in the future sometime. Probably a later game.)
^^
* A game will be considered RESIGNED if no one posts a move within 24 hours for the side whose turn it is.
^^
[*The first player to post an accepted move for that color (excluding me) will be the Captain of that side for the game. Presently Captains have no particular duty or functions, but perhaps may if it becomes apparent that there is some need for such.]
^^
*I will serve as a REFEREE/MODERATOR in the first couple games, to make any Rules additions, as/if needed. My posts in that capacity WILL BE TYPED TOTALLY IN CAPITAL LETTERS, THUS EVERYONE ELSE IS ASKED TO REFRAIN FROM USING ALL CAPS IN THEIR POSTINGS.
^^
*All participant or spectators are welcome to post notes after the game. Additionally, participants may comment as the game goes on as long as the move commented upon is at least 10 moves in the past. If any move sequence given as arising from that prior move#, try to avoid coming closer than 5 moves to the present position. This is just to avoid commentary that could affect the ongoing play or strategy.
[Still, its all in fun and so if it doesn't work out well, then next time notes can be prohibited until game completion.]
^^
Any suggestions about Rules or format are most welcome.
********************************************

I will now proceed to make the first move which will start Forum Game #1, to be designated FG#1 . Someone please make BLACK's first reply, and we'll be started !

FG-#1 , Move One 1. d4
.........
Someone please step up and make Black's response; Move #1. ... ____
cairo 13 ( +1 | -1 )
I humble suggest blacks first move as: 1.d4 f5

Bw.

Nice idea mattdw !

2. c4 e5
3. Nc3 Nf6
misato 18 ( +1 | -1 )
usethepawn Which game are you playing (Dutch 1. d4 f5 2. c4 e6 or some strange Benoni 1. d4 c5 2. c4 e5)?

ccmcacollister, is 3. - Nf6 a valid move (as usethepawn's first two moves differ from the moves already done?
ccmcacollister 41 ( +1 | -1 )
MISATO ... THANKS FOR POINTING THAT OUT! CORRECT GAME SCORE PRIOR TO usethepawn MOVE WAS :
********************
1. d4 f5
2. c4 e6
3.Nc3
*******
SINCE IT APPEARS TO BE THE OBVIOUS AND NATURAL MAINLINE MOVE HERE, I'M GOING TO INTERPRET HIS MOVE 3...Nf6 AS BEING ACCEPTED, AND CONSIDER THAT THE PRIOR MOVES HE LISTED WERE TYPOGRAPHICALLY INCORRECT. SO THE MOVE NOW PENDING IS #4 BY WT ... AND THE CURRENT POSITION:
1. d4 f5
2. c4 e6
3.Nc3 Nf6
4.____
********
bob2 0 ( +1 | -1 )
Looks ok to me 1 d4 f5
2. c4 e6
3. Nc3 Nf6
4 g3
loreta 0 ( +1 | -1 )
Classical 1 d4 f5
2. c4 e6
3. Nc3 Nf6
4 g3 Be7
loreta 7 ( +1 | -1 )
Annotations ccmcacollister, could we post leading commentaries on position or a move?
ccmcacollister 45 ( +1 | -1 )
loreta ... IF YOU MEAN SOMETHING LIKE SAYING
"4.g3 to permit Bh3 to control the c8/h3 diagonal" (a deliberately silly example) , THEN I DON'T THINK SO ... SINCE IT WOULD GIVE AWAY STRATEGY TO BOTH SIDES OF THE BOARD. I'D RATHER LET PEOPLE WORK THAT OUT WITHOUT ASSISTANCE, AND LET THOSE WHO MOVE CHOOSE BETWEEN ANY ALTERNATIVE GOALS.
BUT I'M NOT SURE I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN. FEEL FREE TO CLARIFY HERE IF IT CAN BE DONE SAFELY ... OR BY PM MESSAGE IF YOU PREFER.
ccmcacollister 18 ( +1 | -1 )
5.Bg2 I'll make the #5 move, seeming pretty obvious here.
So unless someone has made an alternate move before me, the current position will be:
1 d4 f5
2. c4 e6
3. Nc3 Nf6
4. g3 Be7
5. Bg2
*********
And it is Black's move #5 ... ___
next.
ccmcacollister 88 ( +1 | -1 )
A FORMAT CHANGE ... I THINK IT WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR ORDERLINESS IF WE ALL PUT THE MOVE NUMBER AND OUR CHOSEN MOVE IN THE "Subject" LINE, AS I DID FOR THE LAST MOVE MADE JUST ABOVE THIS POST {5.Bg2}.
****
THEN THE PLAYER CAN SHOW IT ADDED TO THE PRECEEDING MOVES, PASTED-IN LIKE I DID, IF THEY KNOW HOW TO PASTE.
{And if anyone does not know how to paste, it is a great thing to learn! And tag1153 just ask the pertinent Question of how to do it, in his GK-Forum thread called "Copy and Paste" which is at:
-> gameknot.com if you want to learn it.}
Pasting will also eliminate typographical errors of the prior positions.
***
[PS// another Great thing to know, if you don't, is to try the "CONTROL - F function on your browser. It saves a lot of search/sort time whenever needed]

Someone out there with move for us ?
