Message: Since I'm registered on this GREAT site, I play games with 3 days for move, so I've got all the time I want to think for a hard decision. Before, I played real-time chess games twice a week. Now my question is: Do I improve quickly in real-time chess game or in Gameknot games? What are the advantages or disadvantages playing slowly??

I utilize the times he uses to make a response to study the position and analyze potential continuations for both sides. I tend to go out several moves always looking for the best alternative for my opponent. If I reach a position I do not like following that approach I go back and look for an alternative for me that will take the game along what I consider more favorable lines. Hopefully this has enhanced my ability to analyze faster in real-time over the board games although I have no idea as I haven't played one of those in nearly twenty-five years.
